Was a bit windy yesterday...

It ended up being at miniscus level on the doorstep, had to go out, water up to my bits, find the storm drain (in the dark, in a hurricane, with only a large stick) and clear out the leaves. It kept the water level constant, but a couple doors down, they're flooded out bad. Spent a few hours fighting with sandbacks and sweepign out as much water as possible. Their porch was seriously flooded, which was where his computers were... Seeing their porch flooded that back reminded me, and I dashed back and found I've now got an indoor swimming pool.
Winds reached a max of 93 mph, 4inches of rain per hour, expected to be a 13 inches by the morning. Cars on the road, the water is over their headlights. Power still down for rest of the island, and there's some sirens going off. The sky is being lit up with what I initially thought was lightning, but with no thunder means it must of been the transformers popping.
Took a load of piccies with my camera phone, but was too dark to see a thing.
Bosses house is flooded a foot deep in the living room apparently.
Didn't wander far, but a few trees down and an awful lot of wreckage scattered about. Might scavenge a few coconuts for later or something.

Back to you in the warm, dry, studio.

I'm back

after a lovely week off work.
Didn't go anywhere but just sorting out wedding/house stuff and doing lots of shopping, which I'm normally allergic to. Will have a small fire later on I think if it stays dry. :)

PUN

A World renowned expert in the sounds of European Wasps is walking down the High St. one day when he spots an advert in his local record shop for "Wasp sounds from around the Globe". On further enquiry he discovers that a vinyl recording of this subject has just been released and a few copies are available in store there and then. Naturally, being a World renowned expert in the sounds of European Wasps he is curious and asks the young chap behind the counter if he can have a listen to "Wasp sounds from around the Globe". A few seconds later the World renowned expert in the sounds of European Wasps is standing at one of those little sound stations with his headphones on and a puzzled expression on his face. He removes the headphones, walks back to the counter and catches the young sales persons attention. "Excuse me" he says, "I'm A World renowned expert in the sounds of European Wasps and I've just been listening to "Wasp sounds from around the Globe", and I must say, there appears to be some mistake. Those are no Wasp sounds with which I am familiar". The young man dutifully checks the recording in question and assures the World renowned expert in the sounds of European Wasps that he is indeed listening to "Wasp sounds from around the Globe".
Puzzled, the World renowned expert in the sounds of European Wasps returns to the headphones and once again begins to listen. After a few seconds he once again returns to the counter and accosts the young fellow there. "Excuse me" he says, "As I mentioned before, I am a World renowned expert in the sounds of European Wasps and I've just been listening to "Wasp sounds from around the Globe" and I have to say again, those are no Wasp sounds with which I am familiar. Are you certain I have been listening to the correct recording?"
Slightly exasperated by now, the young man checks the disc currently playing and with a slightly sheepish grin confesses:
"Oops, sorry Sir, I seem to have played you the Bee side".

LOST?

Anyone watch it last night? I wasn't convinced I wanted to get sucked into another ongoing series, but aside from a cast of blatant stereotypes it was pretty good. If they do the same deconstruction of the characters as they seem to be doing with the plot it could prove very interesting. Apparently it is the new X-files in the States, so far as web interest and generating conspiracy theories go...

Robo - no spoilers.

I really wanna go, but I can't!

So, I was watching a bit of telly last night, and it was a C5 program about rich boystoys - jets. I thought shite, until a flash of a lightning came on.
Some really rich guy has got a few lightnings and is flying them. Not only that, but you can go and fly in them as well. :|
Now this is pure childhood memories, as I spent many a time at binbrook watching the lightnings taking off, and rushing to the window when you heard the sound of them.
Its that, versus the massive fuel consumption, sponsored by shell, and its in south africa....
Thunder City
...oh, and it will cost me about £6,500 for the 45 minute flight. :(

wedding vs flight in a lightning....hmmmm.
Once in a lifetime opportunity vs a free meal for friends. :)

One for Dan I think

Totally interactive music video, you mix a track for yourself.
I thought it was cool anyhow.

Boycott IE 7

Article
"It's a cancer on the Web that must be stopped. IE isn't secure and isn't standards-compliant, which makes it unworkable both for end users and Web content creators."

I've also just been reading about how the UK music sharers are being sued for sharing music and its really depressing me. Can't copy this, can't copy that, and if you tell anyone about how to copy anything, TV/Movies, then you'll be punished. Personally, I listen to stuff I download, and if I like it, I'll buy the CD, but most of my purchases seem to be from more obscure labels, but like Dean says, go and see live bands aka big chill. Tones saw Horace X at EcoFest and went out and bought their CD. I'm getting really sick of hearing the same shit on the radio day after day after day.

Apple mouse fixed at long last

Well, it's only taken them 20 years to catch up with the rest of the computer world, but I think they're starting to understand.

Kurt's next car

Hopefully if that works you should see one mental vehicle

All change!

Well, Tones handed her notice in today to the boss who's been treating her like shite and giving her a paycut, after deffing out for the last two weeks about the 'moment'.
What if he goes mad? What if he starts crying? What if he just stares at her and then asks her to leave??
"Tim, have you got a minute?" *hands envelope over.
"Oh, I was expecting this....oh well"
then proceeds to joke about it and mention her leaving do!

So, next month she'll be working at the blue cross, which actually cares for animals rather than the profit from them. Expect lots of fundraising to occur shortly! :)

And, the bonus for me is that she'll finally be home the same time I am. We'll be a 9-5 couple! :)
