Mac-Mini

So, Apple have caught up to the PC world and produced a SmallFormFactor machine at last. Gotta say, it's not a bad looking machine. I've got a fairly sweet SFF myself, and have always wondered why the big hardware companies haven't gone after this market until now. Guess the big players were waiting for Apple to make it sexy first. Looks like the size is getting better and better on the PC side, and I can see that it won't be long till we get a full PC on a single chip, we're nearly there.
Wonder if the minimacmini comes with a proper mouse though.

Well, it's not the beefiest of machines it' true. As it comes, the Gfx chip isn't going to be playing Doom3 smoothly.
It's sat next to the telly though, and the TV out works fine for watching DVD's and playing Mame (something it seems to get used for a fair bit). Heat and noise isn't a problem, runs very quiet, can't hear it when watching films at all.
If I wanted to boost it up a tad, new gfx card would certainly help on the 3d games, though going any further would mean going to a shuttlePC. Full spec machines in a smaller case (tad more expensive too of course). For a cheapo play toy, can't go wrong with a mini-itx I'd say.
